Abbreviations, Brackets, Acronyms and More
There are certain abbreviations, acronyms, bracketing and foreign words used in the channel that you should know about before entering the channel, otherwise you will be confused. So, in order to help alleviate some of that we have this section on our info page. hope it helps! ^_^
Abbreviations
Abbreviations are the shortened forms of words, just as nicknames are for names.
These words have common use netwide so they aught to be familiar to anyone who has been on IRC for a while.
- u = you
- r = are
- tp = telepathic
- tk = telekenetic
- ppl = people
- thx = thanks
- n/m or nm = nevermind
- w = whisper
- m = mutter
- g = grin

Acronyms
Acronyms are letters taken from a group of words and put toghether to represent those words.
This particular group of Acronyms are used in this channel, as well as netwide.
- RPG = Role Playing Game
- RP = Role Play
- LARP = Live Action Role Play
- IC = In Character
- OOC = Out Of Character
- IRL = In Real Life
- RL = Real Life
- BRB = Be Right Back
- BBL = Be Back Later
- BBIAS = Be Back In A Second
- BBIAB = Be Back In A Bit
- URL = Uniform Resource Locator
- BTW = By The Way
- N/P or NP = No Problem
- J/K or JK = Just Kidding
- LOL = Laughing Out Loud
- ROFL = Rolling On the Floor Laughing
- LMAO = Laughing My Arse/Ass Off
- EG = Evil Grin
- WEG = Wicked Evil Grin
Bracketing
Bracketing is surrounding something you type in with a keyboard symbol, be it brackets or something else. You can use colons, or quotation marks, or whatever else. Here we will explain some common bracketing used in channel.
A Telepathic Link between two characters that no one else can over hear is indicated like this:
::Hey Michiru, do you have that Chia-Pet I wanted to give to Usagi?::
All Telepathic messages that can be intercepted or thoughts that can be Telepathically sensed should be in this format:
.oO(Hmmm, I wonder what Diana is doing sneaking up on that dog.)
- All actions in channel will be bracketed like so:
<Rubeus> <Smiles darkly>
- If you have an OOC correction to make to something you said IC, just use parentheses around it like this:
<UsagiTsukino> Awww, Rei cant you please hwlp get a date with Andrww?
<UsagiTsukino> ((Awww, Rei can't you please help me get a date with Andrew?))
- Also, if your character is saying something, especially if you have an action in the same sentence, then use this:
<ReiHino> "No way, Usagi!"
or
<ReiHino> "No way, Usagi!" <walks away>
